This anniversary is about more than a company. It is about the customers, vendors, employees, family members, and friends who have been part of our first fifty years.
OUR STORY
The story of The Verne Bintz Company began long before 1976.
In February 1964, Verne Bintz was a member of the second class of the Pedorthic Institute at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Long before pedorthics became widely recognized, he believed in the importance of education, craftsmanship, and helping people improve their quality of life through proper foot care.
While representing orthopedic and children’s shoe lines throughout the Midwest, Verne recognized a growing need for quality fitting aids and foot-support products. In 1976, he founded The Verne Bintz Company and began manufacturing leather-covered scaphoid pads and heel levelers in the garage and basement of the family home.
From Garage to Growth
Like many family businesses, our beginnings were humble.
During the week, Verne traveled throughout the Midwest serving customers. Evenings and weekends were spent manufacturing products, building relationships, and growing the business one customer at a time.
As a teenager, Ellen helped trim rubber, skive leather, and emboss customer logos onto products. Those early experiences would later lead to a lifetime in the family business.
What began in a garage and basement grew into a trusted resource for foot-care professionals, retailers, healthcare providers, and customers throughout the country.
Lessons From Verne
Verne often taught through simple sayings that became guiding principles for the company.
A Lifetime in Pedorthics
Verne was a founding member of the Pedorthic Footcare Association and dedicated his career to advancing the profession.
One of the greatest honors in company history came when The Verne Bintz Company received the PFA Vendor of the Year Award. The award was later renamed the Verne Bintz Vendor of the Year Award in recognition of his contributions to the industry.
A Family Business
The Verne Bintz Company has always been a family business.
For more than twenty-five years, Ellen Bintz 
worked alongside her father, learning not only about products and customer service, but about integrity, kindness, and treating people fairly.
After Verne’s passing in October 2025, Ellen became President and continues to lead the company with the same values that have guided it since 1976.

2010 – We buy our own office
